No elevator made it a challenge to carry overnite things up 2 flights of narrow stairs. My wife has a bad leg so I made the trip up and down for each bag. If we stay here again, I will be better prepared.

This is in the heart of downtown C'Ville. Nice decor and as small as advertised. Not a spot to hang, but plenty around to make it enjoyable. All in all, it was a good experience.

I stayed in the Jeff for a week in Charlottesville...
I stayed in the Jeff for a week in Charlottesville and it was the perfect location in the downtown Mall, close to countless restaurants. The walk to the UVA campus was an easy mile.
The room is tiny but cozy with good coffee and a small fridge. Very comfortable bed and great shower. The stairs (up 3 flights) were fine but those with mobility difficulties would have a hard time. Finally, the staff was attentive and thoughtful. Great stay.

The staff at Guesthouses was very responsive and accommodating for our need for an early check-in. The room was clean and quiet, great location in the heart of the mall. Would recommend.

Overall my stay at The Jeff was good. It is in a GREAT location and the property manager I corresponded with was wonderful. Since The Jeff is a historical landmark, it does not need to have an elevator or a separate fire exit. I didn't realize how much of a concern this would be for me until I got into my tiny 3rd floor room. When I reached out to the property manager, she accommodated a room change. Even though I was charged a fee, I was grateful for her genuine care and concern and her speedy communication back to me on what they could do to move me to a different room. The rooms are immaculate and even though you're staying downtown, the building is very quiet. The beds are super comfortable, nice linens. I would stay here again.

We loved our stay at the Jeff! This was the only lodging I could find right in the heart of the action of downtown Charlottesville steps away from many restaurants, a movie theater, and boutiques. The room was clean, the decor was trendy, and we greatly appreciated the provided parking validations. Would highly recommend.

The name, Jeff Hotel, implies the availability of ...
The name, Jeff Hotel, implies the availability of a lobby and human check in upon arrival. I arrived by train at about 11 AM assuming I could leave my bags in the Hotel lobby and explore Charlottesville until 4 PM, when check in begins. There is no lobby and human being on site, so I had to haul my bags around town until I could check into my room. Perhaps I missed something in the communications, but the lack of a lobby and on-site human could be made clearer.
