Holiday Rental House
The Nut House as it has become known is a 300-year-old stone village house probably built to house workers at the cork factories when production exploded in the 18th century. The house is our home - not a bare holiday let - and most things needed for your stay are included. Having walls nearly 3 feet thick in places, the house is cool in summer and warm in winter, and now benefits from electric heating in all rooms as well as a cosy antique log burner in the lounge. Wanting to preserve its character, we have retained the stone staircase and flooring which in places is uneven, so it may not be suitable for persons with impaired mobility. The stairs however are fitted with doors or gates on all floors for the safety of young children. The cosy lounge with its wooden ceiling, beams and stone floor is entered directly from the street. It has comfortable seating for 5-6 people and includes a double sofa bed, an antique Godin stove for those late autumn and spring evenings, and a selection of books, board games and children's toys. This is also where you will find toys, beds, parasols and towels for the beach. The staircase leads to the kitchen/dining area with an extending table seating up to 8, an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee-maker and washing machine along with plenty of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils. On the top floor is the bedroom with 2 double beds and a child's cot if required, and plenty of storage. Off the bedroom is the bathroom with toilet, shower and washbasin. We include bedding and towels for all beds, chargers for mobile phones, a hair dryer, ironing board and iron, TV (with over 200 Orange TV channels in many languages), dvd player, radio/cd player.Feel free to bring your laptop, iPads etc and leads to connect to the TV to watch via the internet with our free wifi. We operate a policy where basic toiletries, washing powder, washing up liquid etc are supplied; we just ask that you replace what you use! This means there is no need to bring anything with you if flying, to help reduce your luggage. We also aim to keep a stock of basic kitchen supplies, sauces and condiments for you when you arrive. The same applies to the wine rack and beer in the fridge. Feel free to drink - just replace what you use. For visitors with young children, we provide a travel cot, high chair, buggy, toys, games and books to keep them happy! If you are a first-time or infrequent visitor to France, we offer a package to help you:-* in-depth guide to arriving at the airport, collecting your hire car, driving, general information on the village and area, plus shopping and eating* maps and phrase book.* the loan of a GPS/SatNav before you leave home, to make your journey so much easier; local points of interest (supermarkets, beaches, parking at tourist locations, airports etc.) are pre-loaded * .There are no charges for these service; all you pay is the postage to return the items on your return to the UK and any calls you make. They are offered subject to availability. Check-in and check-out times are strict during busy periods as quite often guests leave and arrive on the same day so we need time to prepare the house but we always try to accommodate early arrivals or late departures where possible at no extra costs. We operate a system where guests collect the keys to the house from a secure key safe so if you are delayed or arrive earlier than planned you have access. While we are not on site in France all year we have a house keeper in the village who is contactable if you have any problems or questions during your stay. I had to make a quick dash to Provence for a few days and was delighted to stay in the Nut House. Warm and perfect for myself as a solo traveller, I found parking in the village not too far from the house and felt...More

Perfect location - peaceful, quaint village but close enough to tons of visits. La Garde-Freinet is the archetypal traditional French village with narrow winding streets, friendly people, non-touristy and with several outstanding restaurants and bars. Lovely drives to Ste. Maxime, St. Tropez and the beaches,...More

La Garde-Freinet is tucked away in the hills about a 30 minute drive north of St. Tropez. The village was beautiful with its maze of little narrow streets, plenty of places to eat, bakery, post-office, chemist, walks, ancient forts, and a variety of small shops....More
