My husband and I and 3 adult children and spouses (8 total) really enjoyed L'alize for a week. The owner, Roseanne, is attentive as is her manager, Lisa to everything L'alize. Edier and Mirna are wonderful local on site staff; so eager to please with driving, giving directions, cooking, cleaning, and probably anything else you'd want. Edier understands some English; Mirna and their precious 5 year old daughter, Gabriella, are super friendly and smile a lot! We used google translate for most communications. Edier was our driver for the week; definitely recommend him as we'd never have been able to navigate on our own on the island. Don't plan to walk anywhere; it's an island jungle with lots of curves and steep hills. Mirna cooked 3 beautiful meals, 2 of which she served on the outdoor patio/kitchen. They were delicious traditionally Honduran meals we were hoping for.
The property is clean, kept up, well equipped, and as pictured. There are numerous steps that lead to the rooms, pool and keyhole--- make sure you can climb steps well before booking. The keyhole is pretty easy to get to and quite beautiful, but beware of the rocky slippery bottom and strong currents. Edier set chairs out to enjoy the views. AC worked well, we only used them at night and left the doors open during the day-the breeze was wonderful! Any issues, call Lisa and she'll tend to it!
Proximity is great for beautiful West Bay Beaches/Resorts and West End shops, restaurants and bars, given Edier brings you. The water is amazing here! We took a diving lesson with West Bay Divers @ Grand Roatan Resort, did the glass bottom boat tour @ West Bay Beach, snorkeled & Lion fished @ Turquoise Bay, zip lined @ Gumbalimba, visited with monkeys, sloths, and birds @ Daniel Johnson's, did the dolphin encounter @ Anthony's Key, and visited the wonderful Roatan Island Brewery in Palmetto Bay and a cute little java shop, Bad Ass Java, and the Chocolate Factory tour in West End. Water taxis took us from West Bay to West End a few times. We had nice meals at Annie's Boarwalk Cafe on West Bay Beach, Luna Muna @ Imbagari, the Argentenian Grill, Azul @ Blue Roatan Resort. Bananarama and Paradise resorts have pizza and bars on the beach and let you sit in their chairs free if ordering. Needless to say, we were ordering... ;-)). Most places are very hospitable with friendly staff eager to please. Locals sell wares on the beach, but weren't bothersome.
