Planned trips usually focus on unique geographical/environmental qualities.
Thus: Redwoods and Pacific HY 101 in CA, Glaciers in MT, Everglades in FL, Pueblo Bonita NM, Grand Canyon AZ, Waimea Canyon, Kauai, Mt. Rainier (summit attempt) , surfing in N.C.But nothing like a quick getaway week-end to NYC for dinner and show..or CLEVELAND!!
Not much of a "sun worshipper" due to skin sensitivities but enjoy the beach in the a.m. or later afternoon. Most memorable experience of late:
brewing a cup of Kona Coffee, on the hiking trail of the Kilauea volcano while snacking chocolate covered macadamia nuts.. PURE Hawaiian.
My longest road trip was Gold Beach, Oregon to Dulles Airport, Virginia non stop. It was just after 9/11/01 and we were supposed to fly back to D.C. from Portland OR on 9/13/01 but everything was on hold at the airports. Luckily we had our camping gear anda rented SUV we literally drove non-stop w/ 4 hour shifts and 1 longer stop at Cabelas in NE.
